Kris Russell breaks the tie by scoring in his own net.
NHL

The Thursday night match up between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Edmonton Oilers was a high-scoring affair, but without a doubt the highlight reel goal of the night belongs to Oilers defenseman Kris Russell.

The 30-year-old National Hockey League veteran made a catastrophic mistake when he buried the puck in the back of his own net with just 1:05 to go in the third period. To make matters worse, the Oilers had clawed back from several deficits at the point and had managed to tie it 4-4 late.

Russell's own goal would in the end prove to be the difference maker, and you can image that has to feel awful for an experienced player like Russell. That being said it was a huge mistake, and Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nazem Kadri made sure he let Russel know by laughing at him rather deliberately.
