Darth Dubas?

The Pittsburgh Penguins have themselves a brand new president of hockey operations, and he officially made his debut earlier this month.

Former Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Kyle Dubas is the new head honcho in the Steel City, taking over the franchise who elected to clean out their front office at the conclusion of this season after having missed the postseason for the first time since Sidney Crosby's rookie year of 2005-6.

With the prized Penguins trio of Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and Kris Letang all on the wrong side of age 35 and a projected dark age set to be ushered into Pittsburgh before too long, could Dubas be looking to poach a few players from his former franchise to try and maximize the limited window the team has with their leadership core still intact?

One such player that Dubas could allegedly be interested in, according to Frank Seravalli of The Daily Faceoff, is David Kampf:

"David Kampf, I wouldn't be shocked at all if he ended up in Pittsburgh," Seravalli said. "I think that's the perfect Kyle Dubas player. In a new city, with cap constraints, that's a relatively low cost add to your team to make that team better."

The 28-year-old Kampf has appeared in all 82 regular season games the last two seasons for the Leafs, and scored a total of 18 goals with 35 assists.

We already reported last week that Dubas could be looking to bring aboard a few Leafs employees to the Penguins.
