Report: Kyle Dubas was rejected by old Toronto friend

At this point, you're surely well aware that the Toronto Maple Leafs parted ways with Kyle Dubas in what was a rather startling move not long after their season came to an end at the hands of the eventual Eastern Conference champion Florida Panthers. He's since been replaced by Brad Treliving, who had previously served as GM of the Calgary Flames.

In the meantime, Dubas has resurfaced in the NHL with the Pittsburgh Penguins, taking over the role of president of hockey operations. And recently, he elected to make himself the general manager of the Penguins for the time being. However, it's recently been revealed that Dubas was actually rejected by an old friend at the Leafs, whom he apparently wanted for the GM role. 

According to a report, Dubas had allegedly been eyeballing Maple Leafs assistant general manager Brandon Pridham for the vacant Penguins job: 

However, no such deal materialized, and for the time being, Dubas will be assuming the role of Penguins general manager while also retaining the title of president of hockey operations.
