The highly publicized split between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Kyle Dubas continues to produce fallout from all angles, with fans and media members alike taking sides between Dubas and embattled Leafs president Brendan Shanahan.
And fans were quick to notice that Dubas has scrubbed any reference to the Maple Leafs from his social media account. He's also unfollowed the Maple Leafs and Shanahan in particular.
“I would like to thank Kyle for his unwavering dedication over these last nine seasons with the organization, including his last five as general manager,” Shanahan said in a statement after the dismissal of Dubas last week. “Kyle fostered a great culture within our dressing room and staff, and consistently pushed to make our team better season over season.”
Dubas himself admitted that the rigors of the season took a toll on his young family, and appeared to be less than 100% committed to remaining in the position of general manager during his season-ending press conference. It wasn't long afterward that Shanahan made the call to ditch Dubas, and he admitted that his thought process changed after watching the Dubas presser.
