Kyle Okposo sends Cale Makar face first into the boards.

A questionable play from veteran Kyle Okposo on Sunday leaves Cale Makar down on the ice.

National Hockey League veteran Kyle Okposo was involved in a controversial play earlier today and now some are calling for him to be suspended.

During today's early game between the Buffalo Sabres and Colorado Avalanche, the aforementioned Okposo would drive Avalanche star defenseman Cale Makar into the boards from behind. It wasn't the most vicious play you're ever going to see, but it certainly was a dangerous one.

Okposo has defended himself saying that he did so unintentionally, and to be fair Okposo does not have a reputation as a dirty player in the league.

I would lean towards giving Okposo the benefit of the doubt due to the fact that, as mentioned, he hasn't earned himself a reputation as a dirty player after many years of playing in the NHL. In spite of that however there are some who feel the play, which was unpenalized, should lead to a suspension including NHL insider Frank Seravalli.

Is this worthy of a suspension? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
