UPDATE: This is an update to our earlier report on an injury suffered by Toronto Maple Leafs forward Ryan Reaves in tonight's game against the Columbus Blue Jackets. For the full report on Reaves read further down below. For the update on Blue Jackets forward Patrik Laine though, read directly below.

Columbus Blue Jackets forward Patrik Laine has left tonight's game against the Toronto Maple Leafs with an apparent shoulder injury. Laine got tied up with Leafs defenseman William Lagesson and ended up falling awkwardly. You could see him holding his shoulder as he was helped off the ice.

Again, read below for our earlier report on this game.

You know those beer league games where you just know things aren't going to go your way?

Maybe it's the end of a long work day, or you're just trying to rock with three defensemen... whatever the case, you just know that things aren't going to go your way but you go out there and you give it your best shot?

Well, just imagine that but you're playing in the NHL for one of the most storied franchises in hockey history.

That's essentially what has happened to Toronto Maple Leafs enforcer Ryan Reaves this evening.

Midway through the 1st period of tonight's game against the visiting Columbus Blue Jackets, Reaves somehow managed to injure either his knee or his foot when he full on slammed himself into the side boards. To be clear, this wasn't a case of colliding into the boards because of a battle for position with an opponent. This was just full on Reaves slamming into the glass because he can't control himself out there.

And if that weren't enough it appeared shortly afterward that Reaves actually managed to fall down the stairs in the hallway on his way off the ice and into the dressing room.

Bruh...

Sometimes you just have to take a hint from the universe and pack things up for the evening. Tonight's not your night, bud.

The Leafs have now confirmed that Reaves will not return to action this evening.
