Lars Eller makes NHL history on Saturday night.
The long time National Hockey League forward made history on Saturday night, and made his home country proud.
It was a historical night for veteran National Hockey League forward Lars Eller and thanks to the 34 year old's incredible talent and durability it was a historical night for the NHL as well.
On Saturday night, Eller became the latest NHL player to hit the 1000 game milestone making him just the 36th active player to have accomplished the feat. While there are numerous other players who have hit the milestone before Eller, none of those that have come before hailed from the country of Denmark.
Eller becomes the first Danish born player in the history of the entire NHL to reach the 1000 game milestone, a proud moment not only for Eller himself but for his entire nation as well.
It has been a long journey for eller who was drafted in the first round (13th overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft by the St. Louis Blues. Eller would go on to briefly play for the Blues before making a name for himself as a long time member of the Montreal Canadiens and then again as a long time member of the Washington Capitals.
Eller has since made a brief stop with the Colorado Avalanche and was honored tonight by his current team, the Pittsburgh Penguins. Eller has been a very well respected player in every market he has played in, thanks to the high level effort he puts in on a nightly basis, a characteristic that no doubt played a major factor in his incredible accomplishment this evening.
