Las Vegas considering 3 new names for expansion team.

The new expansion team in Las Vegas may have a name similar to one of the NHL's most popular teams.

According to Steve Carp of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the Bill Foley, owner of Vegas' expansion NHL franchise, confirmed a Sportslogos.net report Thursday night that the club is close to finalizing its team name. Foley has narrowed the list of possibilities down to five, with three of those being Las Vegas Nighthawks, the Las Vegas Desert Hawks, or the Las Vegas Red Hawks.

Foley wouldn't divulge the other two names, Carp added. There is a good chance that it will be a variation on the word "Knights".

An announcement is expected to be made soon in regards to the new name.

Something tells me that Blackhawks' fans won't be happy about this news.
