Pierre Lebrun brought up a lot of interesting topics in the Rumblings blog today.

He mentioned that sources have told ESPN.com that the Las Vegas expansion team will have a 48 hour window ahead of the expansion draft in which they can discuss with pending unrestricted or restricted free agents that have not been protected by their team.

That is a pretty big opportunity for the Las Vegas club. Being able to get some numbers fixed and have an idea as to who would really like to come play for your team before you make your picks. It would help them target specific players and even have a good idea what their cap situation will look like when they look to fill out their roster through the draft.

Another interesting fact is that if a team loses someone via the free agency window to the Las Vegas team, that counts as their player taken in the draft. So some teams might only lose a player who was leaving anyways. Very interesting.
