This is a joke.

This has to be one of the most incredibly petty moves we've seen in a long time, and it's almost certainly going to backfire.

According to a breaking news report from Awful Announcers, CBS in Las Vegas has made the decision to effectively blacklist the Las Vegas Golden Knights from their airwaves after losing out on a contract for the TV and radio rights to the Golden Knights.

The bidding war for the team's rights was one by AT&T SportsNet and Lotus Broadcasting and now an internal memo from CBS has been leaked revealing just how small they intended to be.

The email transcript from the Awful Announcers report:

Just wanted to pass along this info….a decision has been made that effective immediately, there are to be no further mentions of the Las Vegas Golden Knights hockey team on any CBS/LV radio stations or any of our social media platforms. This includes, but not limited to, on sale ticket mentions, player/coaches interviews, plugging locals to sing national anthem, TV broadcast schedule, etc. It is now the responsibility of the Golden Knights’ chosen radio partner to help accomplish their goals, not ours. We are asking you to include ‘show’ pages, as well. We need to show a united front on this issue. If you have anything already planned around the team, please cancel. If you have any ‘best of’ bits around the team, please do not air and find another piece of content.

I can not recall the last time I heard of a situation where a broadcaster would flat out refuse so much as a mention of a team merely because they didn't win the broadcasting rights to that specific team.

This will likely now result in the Golden Knights getting even more attention courtesy of some awfully bad press for CBS.
