It seems the appetite for hockey in Las Vegas is not quite what the NHL, and potential franchise owner Bill Foley had hoped it would be. The Vegas ownership group, and the NHL by extension, had hoped to reach a commitment of 10,000 season tickets in
“The support of the Las Vegas community throughout this campaign has been incredible,” said Foley. “We are extremely pleased to be able to report that - in less than two weeks - we are almost two-thirds of the way to our goal of having the 10,000 deposits we are seeking in order to demonstrate that Las Vegas can support its first major league sports franchise!”What that translates to is 7,000 season tocket sales in two weeks, which while being good, is a shocking number when you consider that they sold 5,000 in the first two days alone. They are still 3,000 tickets shy of their goal, and one has to wondder if people haven't come forward yet is there really that much interest in an NHL franchise in Vegas? One thing is certain, potential ownership groups in Quebec City and Seattle are keeping a close eye on this ticket drive, and are more then likely pleased by this outcome.
