Captain consistency.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are getting some stellar production out of heart and soul captain John Tavares, who has tallied 11 goals with 11 assists so far this season. As it currently stands, he's on pace to hit 45 in both category - certainly not anything to sneeze at.

And not surprisingly, it's the latest trend of Tavares proving that he's nothing but a model of consistency. As he approaches his 300th game wearing the Maple Leafs sweater, his numbers are nearly identical to his first 300 during the first portion of his career with the New York Islanders, by whom he was drafted 1st overall in 2009.

Earlier this month, Tavares made NHL history by scoring his 400th career goal.

"It's crazy to think that that much time has passed," Tavares said of his reaching the milestone with Toronto. "I try not to think about it a lot. You're the one making me aware of it, but, yeah, it's crazy to think it's been that much time."

The Leafs are back in action tonight against the red hot New Jersey Devils in Newark.
