Ahead of the 2022-23 season, defenseman P.K. Subban announced his retirement. The blue liner was still unsigned after becoming a free agent on July 13 and was said to be hoping to play another season in the league. However, he never got the offer he was looking for. When the announcement of Subban’s retirement was made, Patrick Lortie got the information from two NHL employees that the blue liner would have signed a contract with only two teams : a return with the Montreal Canadiens or a shot at the Stanley Cup with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Subban was coming off an eight-year, $72 million deal with an average annual value of $9 million. He might have been able to announce a league minimum deal somewhere… but instead he announced his retirement.

A lot has been said about this early retirement and now more chatter emerges with Subban’s latest sighting.

On Thursday night, Subban was seen and took a lot of pictures with Maple Leafs’ fans as he attended the home opener in Toronto against the Washington Capitals.

Some fans revealed online how Subban was now a Maple Leafs’ season-ticket holder and would be attending several games this year.

Others even wondered if Subban would look for any employment opportunities with the Maple Leafs now that he is retired as an NHL player.

Do you believe there is a place for Subban in the Maple Leafs’ organization?
