Leafs announce the passing of former goaltender Mark Laforest
RIP Trees. Gone, but never forgotten.
The Toronto Maple Leafs have announced the passing of former NHL goaltender Mark Laforest at just 62 years old.
The Welland, Ontario native played 27 games for the Leafs in 1989-90 and was a long-time member of the team's alumni group and helped spearhead many initiatives for Leafs Alumni.
A well travelled netminder, the man with the nickname 'Trees' also had NHL stops with the Detroit Red Wigs, Philadelphia Flyers and Ottawa Senators. In total he managed 103 NHL games and was a two time (1987 and 1991) AHL Baz Bastien Award winner as the AHL's top goaltender.
RIP, Trees. Gone, but never forgotten.
