The Toronto Maple Leafs have been getting their money's worth with captain John Tavares' performance this season, who is on just over a point-per-game pace through the 1st 15 games of the year.
And thanks to his efforts on the ice, he's on the verge of a bit of personal history. He's now only nine points away from becoming the 97th player in NHL history to reach 1,000 career points. When he reaches the mark, he will have passed former Leafs forwards Phil Kessel (992) and Jason Spezza (995).
For reference:
"John Tavares has 16 pts in 15 games this seasons.
9 pts away from 1000 pts.
In 375 games (yes that many) with the Leafs:
161 Goals | 209 Assists = 370 pts
Tavares is 26th all time point leader for the Leafs."
Tavares and the Leafs will next be in action this Friday in Sweden as part of the NHL Global Series against the division rival Detroit Red Wings before then facing the Minnesota Wild.
