Toronto Maple Leafs superstar Auston Matthews is the first NHL player to 50 goals this season, putting home his 50th goal of the campaign into an empty net late in a victory over the Winnipeg Jets.

Matthews managed to beat Edmonton Oilers superstar Leon Draisaitl to 50, with Draisaitl stuck on 49 goals and New York Rangers forward at 42 goals.

As you might imagine, Matthews' teammates celebrated his accomplishment after the game in the locker room.

The 50 goal mark establishes a new career high for Matthews, his previous being 47 goals in 70 games during the 2019-20 NHL season that was ultimately cut short.
