Leafs CEO has a message for fans who want the team to tank

Last night the the Toronto Maple Leafs finally, mercifully dismissed GM Brad Treliving.

Today, Leafs CEO Keith Pelley held a press conference and took questions from the media.

One of the main questions that Pelley faced was regarding the team's remaining 7 games and if they plan on resting any of their top players down the stretch with a look to next season. In other words: Do the Leafs plan on tanking the rest of the season?

No... for better or worse.

A disgusted Pelley told the media emphatically, "We will not tank."

If the Leafs lose out, still a possibility whether they purposefully tank or not, they could fall into a spot where they get a top 5 pick in the 2026 NHL Draft.
