Is this a self own?
The Buffalo Sabres and the Toronto Maple Leafs are both in unfamiliar territory this month.
The Sabres, of course, are in the Stanley Cup Playoffs a place they haven't been in over 15 years.
As for the Leafs, they failed to make the playoffs but did qualify for the NHL Draft Lottery for the first time in 10 years.
By now, we all know how that has played out for both teams. The Sabres are on to round two of the playoffs while the Leafs have won the Draft Lottery and the chance to select Gavin McKenna at 1st overall. With both teams trending in the right direction you would imagine that there would be a mutual respect between the team's fanbases, correct?
Think again...
Check out this Leafs fan triggering Sabres fans last night by wearing a Gavin McKenna jersey to Game 1 of the Sabres' second round playoff series against the Montreal Canadiens.
I've gotta admit...
This is funny, but not for the reason that McKenna's superfan is going for. The reality is that this guy would probably trade places with Sabres fans or Habs fans in an instant. The Sabres have had their fair share of 1st overall picks and they're only now starting to experience some success. Mr. Leafs fan has a long way to go until it's time to start bragging.
