Leafs fans optimistic after hiring of Craig Berube
Will the hard-nosed coach help bring them long-awaited postseason success?
After yet another early exit from the postseason, the Toronto Maple Leafs decided to make a major shakeup behind the bench and jettison Sheldon Keefe, who had served in his capacity since being promoted to take over from Mike Babcock in November of 2019.
And after a short search, the Leafs officially hired Keefe's replacement this afternoon, as former St. Louis Blues Stanley Cup-winning coach Craig Berube was brought aboard. The 32nd coach in team history, Berube boasts a career head coaching record of 281-190-72 (.584) with the Philadelphia Flyers and Blues.
And soon after the news was announced, Leafs fans began chiming in with their thoughts on the hire, the overwhelming majority of which were in support of the move along with renewed optimism.
