Leafs forward spotted with a new number on his helmet.

There have been rumors for some time that Toronto Maple Leafs forward Connor Brown would be giving up his number for the incoming Patrick Marleau and we may now have confirmation of those rumors.
While there has not been an official announcement, Post Media's Lance Hornby has reported that Brown was spotted wearing number 28 on his helmet during the Toronto Maple Leafs summer workouts.
Presumably this means that 28 will be Brown's number for the 2017-2018 National Hockey League season, and furthermore that Marleau will be wearing his usual number 12.
While it may seem a bit unfortunate for the 23-year-old Leafs forward, as is often the tradition in these types of deals the younger player is usually compensated by the veteran for giving up the number, so we're sure Marleau greased Brown's palms a little.
