This just in, Toronto Maple Leafs starting goaltender Anthony Stolarz and captain Auston Matthews will not play this evening against the Los Angeles Kings. Both players are nursing minor injuries suffered in Tuesday's loss to the Boston Bruins.

From TSN insider Darren Dreger:

Dreger's TSN colleague Chris Johnston reports that Matthews will be out of the lineup "at least a week".

Looking at the team's schedule, Matthews is likely looking at either next Thursday's game against the Columbus Blue Jackets or next Saturday's game against the Montreal Canadiens for his return.

I know it's only November, but with an 8-8-1 record and with the team near the bottom of their division, this has got to be concerning news for fans of this team. It's still early in the season, but the Leafs cannot afford to keep playing the way they have been. With their starting goaltender and their best player now out of the lineup, it'll be up to the rest of the squad to right the ship.
