An update on the goaltender's status.
Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe met with the media following his team's practice today which, a practice which to the surprise of many included goaltender Ilya Samsonov on the ice.
Samsonov took some reps on his own though and didn't participate much with his team as he recovers from an injury. After the practice Keefe took some time to update the media on Samsonov's health and... well... it's a bit of good news / bad news.
The good news is that, yes Samsonov is healthy enough to strap on the pads and get on the ice, but the bad news is that he's still weeks away from returning to action.
From Leafs insider David Alter:
The good news is that starter Matt Murray is expected to engage in a full practice with the team tomorrow, but it's still unclear when he'll be healthy enough to return to action full-time. In the meantime, Erik Kallgren is likely to be the Leafs' starting netminder.
