Chief to stay in Canada after all?
According to a report from NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, the Toronto Maple Leafs have granted permission to the Edmonton Oilers to interview former head coach Craig Berube.
From Friedman:
Berube, of course, was dismissed from his job as the Leafs' head coach early this offseason but he still has two more seasons on his contract at $4.5 million per season. The Oilers, of course, fired their head coach Kris Knoblauch the same week that the Leafs fired Berube, but have been rumored to be after veteran head coach Bruce Cassidy, who was himself just fired by the Vegas Golden Knights.
So... here's the thing: The NHL coaching carousel is spinning in overdrive.
