Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Kyle Dubas has certainly been extremely busy ahead of the National Hockey League Trade Deadline, which is now officially in the books.
In the first place, he acquired now-former St. Louis Blues captain Ryan O'Reilly as well as forward Noel Acciari; in exchange, the Leafs sent prospect Mikhail Abramov, forward Adam Gaudette, the Leafs' 2023 first-round pick, the Ottawa Senators' 2023 third-round pick and Toronto's 2024 second-round pick to the Blues in return.
The Leafs pulled another deal that saw them bring aboard defenseman Jake McCabe, forward Sam Lafferty, and a conditional fifth-round draft choice in both 2024 and 2025 from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for draft picks. And what's more, they also brought back former 1st round draft selection Luke Schenn in a deal with the Vancouver Canucks.
But for anyone hoping to see Dubas swing another deal, there won't be any more announced. However, there remains another addition to be made to the roster in the form of a player who is already tow. There remains enough cap space for the team to activate goaltender Matt Murray from LTIR, as well as officially ink top prospect Matthew Knies to an entry-level deal.
Knies, who like Auston Matthews hails from Arizona, was selected in the second round, 57th overall, in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft.
