Leafs linked to Blues captain Brayden Schenn in trade report from Darren Dreger
Business is about to pick up!
According to a report from NHL insider Darren Dreger, the St. Louis Blues have made captain Brayden Schenn available on the trade market and the Toronto Maple Leafs are expected to inquire about a potential deal.
From Dreger on TSN's insider Trading segment today:
"Well some believe that there's potential of Brayden Schenn being traded by the St. Louis Blues. He is their captain and he does have a full no-trade clause so it is a complicated process. The Blues are underachieving right now, so yes the top contenders... are interested and that would include the Toronto Maple Leafs."

The 33 year old Schenn is in year five of an eight year deal that pays him $6.5 million annually. Sure, he's a good player but I can't imagine why the Leafs would be interested in taking on that whopper of a contract. For what it's worth, Schenn is on pace to have his worst offensive season in a decade... and he's signed for three more years. Again... why would the Leafs want to take on this deal?
