According to a report from NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, the Toronto Maple Leafs have been poking around St. Louis Blues general manager Doug Armstrong in search of a deal.

The Blues are a team in transition right now and Armstrong has made it clear that if the team can't pull together some wins this season, then he'll be looking to offload veteran contracts. Jordan Kyrou is seemingly always in trade speculation and veteran players like Justin Faulk and captain Brayden Schenn are reportedly generating interest around the league.

In particular, Friedman reports that the Leafs have had interest in acquiring Schenn in the past and could circle back on him again.

From Friedman:

Brayden Schenn's name's been out there; Ottawa went after him a couple years ago; Toronto went after him last year; Schenn's got less protection this year

Schenn holds a 15 team no-trade list.

For the record he's in year six of an eight year deal that pays him $6.5 million annually. He's 34 years old and he put up 18 goals and 50 points in 82 games for the Blues last season.
