Nothing official just yet.

We have a big report from two of the games top insiders.

First TSN insider Bob McKenzie broke the story, reporting that the Toronto Maple Leafs are closing in on a massive 7-year extension for former Kontinental Hockey League defenseman Nikita Zaitsev. That report has now been echoed by Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman and with that in mind we feel confident this deal is on the verge of getting done.

McKenzie is also reporting that he believes the deal will be somewhere in the neighborhood of $4.5 million per season, or more specifically an average annual value and therefore a cap hit of $4.5 million.

More to come, stay tuned.
