This just in, the Toronto Maple Leafs have signed 2020 1st round selection Rodion Amirov to a three year, entry level contract.\
Check it out:
With Amirov's KHL season coming to an end earlier this week, he will now join the Leafs' AHL Toronto Marlies and Maple Leafs development program after visa and quarantine requirements are met.
"Our Club is pleased to have Rodion formally signed today. We look forward to welcoming Rodion to Canada in the coming weeks and having him begin working with our player development staff in Toronto," said Maple Leafs General Manager Kyle Dubas. "We also look forward to continuing to work with Ufa with his development next season. Ufa has done an excellent job guiding Rodion's development as a player to date and we are excited to work very closely with them through the summer and into the future."
The 19 year old prospect put up nine goals and 1 points in 39 games for Salavat Yulev in the KHL this season to rank third amongst players under 20 in the league. He's an offensive dynamo with a serious work ethic. He's got slick hands and a good finish, but he's not afraid to get in the corners and bump elbows a bit either. If he develops properly he could be a good all-around offensive player for the Leafs.
