The Toronto Maple Leafs have announced a trio of signings on Monday morning, just hours before teams around the National Hockey League must have their rosters locked in before the start of the regular season.

Perhaps the least surprising deal of the day is the one awarded to veteran NHL forward Max Pacioretty, who was nothing short of outstanding for the Maple Leafs during the NHL preseason. Pacioretty established himself as a significant part of what the Leafs did offensively during the preseason and as a result has received a new deal with some significant bonuses attached to it.

According to NHL insider Frank Seravalli, Pacioretty will earn a salary of just $873,770 on a one year deal but will have the chance to nearly double that with a pair of performance bonuses tied to his contract. Those bonuses will activate if Pacioretty plays 10 and 35 games respectively for the Maple Leafs with an identical bonus of $313,115 attached to both those milestones.

Steve Lorentz, who like Pacioretty was on a professional tryout offer, has also signed with the Maple Leafs and will come in at the league minimum salary of $775,000 on a one year deal.

Last but not least, the Maple Leafs also announced an unexpected contract extension for Cade Weber along with the two fresh signings, a two year extension that will see Weber come in at an average annual value and cap hit of $825,000 over the course of the next two seasons.
