The Maple Leafs remain committed to their youth movement, and while it will mean a great many growing pains for the roster and the organization, it's likely a huge relief for fans of the team to see that level of focus.
On Friday the Leafs announced another multi-year deal for one of their young players, this time it was defenseman Connor Carrick earning himself a two-year deal worth an average annual value of $750,000. The twenty-two year old appear in just 16 games for the Leafs last season, but then again it's not bad for a former 5th round draft choice.
The Leafs clearly believe they can develop Carrick in to a contributor for their organization, and it's not only the term that suggest that, this Leafs have also agreed to making this a one-way deal.
According to General Fanager the Carrick will earn the majority of his salary in the second year of his deal with him making an additional $200,00 in year two of the contract.
