That didn't take very long did it?

After an absolutely mind-blowing National Hockey League debut for first overall pick Auston Matthews, the reverberations are being felt all the way across the border with a major impact on the hockey market in the United States, this despite the fact that he is currently playing for a Canadian franchise.

NBC, the NHL's partner in the United States, has announced that after the monumental mistake not to broadcast Matthews' historic performance on Wednesday night, they will be immediately correcting that gaff by announcing that his second game will be nationally televised.

NBC made the following statement:

Following an NHL record four-goal performance by 19-year-old American and 2016 Toronto Maple Leafs first overall draft pick Auston Matthews in his NHL debut last night, NBCSN announced today it will televise live coverage of Matthews’ first NHL home game this Saturday night at 7 p.m. ET, when the Maple Leafs host the Boston Bruins in an Original Six showdown.

Matthews, a native of Scottsdale, Ariz., became the first player in modern history to score four goals in his NHL debut on Wednesday night against the Ottawa Senators.

This is likely only the beginning for the young Leafs superstar.
