If you're a fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs this is exactly what you want to hear from a player who has been mired in trade rumors.
On Friday Toronto Maple Leafs veteran forward James van Riemsdyk, who will be an unrestricted free-agent at the end of the 2017-2018 regular season, was asked about the trade rumors that have been swirling around him for seemingly over a year now,
"We've got a bigger goal here as a team," said van Riemsdyk. "All the individual stuff takes a back seat to that."
It's exactly the kind of stoic response you want to hear if you're a fan of the Maple Leafs, especially if you're a fan that believes the Leafs have a chance to do some significant damage in the postseason this year.
While a player like Avalanche forward Matt Duchene has returned to camp looking rattled by the trade rumors that have circulated about him, van Riemsdyk on the other hand seems more concerned about making a run with the Leafs than he does about any potential trade coming his way.
