His time has finally arrived.
Much ink has been spilled lately because of Frank Corrado's lack of playing time lately.
Corrado will finally some ice, Leafs' head coach Mike Babcock has decided to insert the 22 year-old in the teams' roster. Being healthy scratched for the past 22 games, Corrado will need some time to get his pace back.
“It might take a few shifts to get back in your rhythm. Once I get out there, it’s the ACC, hometown team, lot of friends and family in the building, I feel like that’ll take care of itself. That’ll be pretty cool.”
Corrado was picked up from the Vancouver Canucks through waivers at the beginning of the season. Unfortunately for him, Leafs' management did not want to send him to the AHL, in case somebody would claim him again.
Corrado became an asset for Toronto, but because of his value, the team preferred to let him watch games in the press box than risking losing him for nothing.
It was Mike Babcock's decision to keep Corrado in the stands, believing that 7 other defensemen were helping the Leafs better. He decided to give a chance to the young Toronto-native, but did not guarantee him anything more than one game on Tuesday against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
