The New York Rangers are expected to have a very different looking roster when they begin next season, but one of the first big moves of the offseason has occurred behind the bench.

According to a report from Pro Hockey Talk, legendary National Hockey League enforcer Ulf Samuelsson, one of the dirtiest players to ever play the game, has made the decision to leave the Rangers bench where he was head coach Alain Vigneault's right hand man, and will instead take on a role with the Carolina Hurricanes organization.

Samuelsson is expected to take over the job as the head coach of Carolina's American Hockey League affiliate in Charlotte. General manager Ron Francis released the following statement.

“Ulf has built a very strong coaching resume during a decade behind the bench in the AHL, NHL and Swedish league,” said Francis via an official press release. “He has a proven history of helping to develop young players and understands the organizational culture that we are building here.”
