Pius Suter was probably the best center left on the free agent market and on Wednesday, he signed a new deal. After spending the last two season with the Vancouver Canucks, Suter has now signed a a two-year contract worth $4.125M AAV with the St. Louis Blues.

The Canucks would have probably preferred to hold on to Suter after dealing away J.T. Miller and needing a reliable centreman who can find the net. While there is a sense that Suter would have liked to stay put in Vancouver, as Rick Dhaliwal points out, "Canucks never could get to 4M with Suter, believe Suter was willing to give Canucks a discount, he really liked Vancouver."

The new deal is a good raise for Suter, who earned $1.6 million last season on his contract with the Canucks.

The 29-year-old forward recorded 25 goals and 46 points in 81 games last season.

Originally signed as an undrafted free agent back in 2020 by the Chicago Blackhawks , Suter has put up 82 goals and 162 points in 364 career games split between the Blackhawks, Detroit Red Wings and Canucks.

Now, he will get more points on the board with the Blues.
