The Stars pulled an unbelievable comeback on Wednesday with five unanswered goals in the third period. See below what Draisaitl had to say ahead of Game 2:
Game 1 of the Western Conference Final between the Edmonton Oilers and Dallas Stars was full of ups and downs on Wednesday night. And unfortunately for the Oilers, it ended on a low note when, leading 3-1 at the start of the third period, Edmonton’s penalty kill surrendered three goals in six minutes early into the frame and Dallas went on to take the first game of the series, 6-3.
Star forward Leon Draisaitl broke an unwritten rule of hockey on Thursday when he wanted to let reporters know he knew exactly who was to blame for the mistakes that led to the loss on Wednesday, hinting at his teammates on the penally kill.
“I’m not on it, so who am I to say anything?” he said. “But that’s just common sense. That’s a fact.
“Then, once you have a chance to tie the game up on the power play, it’s our turn to be much better than that.”
While Draisaitl isn’t the only unhappy with how things unfolded in the third period, he is not afraid to call out his own teammates, looking for a better showing tonight for Game 2 against the Stars.
Draisaitl was sitting on the bench during the Stars’ powerplay and watched all the pucks go past his netminder Stuart Skinner.
There is no doubt that Game 1’s loss for Edmonton can be directly blamed on a leaky P.K.
And Draisaitl did not have a problem calling out his teammates, looking for a much different result tonight. Let’s hope there is enough time to rectify that…
