Leon Draisaitl shuts down reporter blaming Stuart Skinner.

The Edmonton Oilers have not gotten off to a good start after many pundits predicted they would be among the Stanley Cup favorites this season, and the cracks are already starting to show. During Saturday's game against the Winnipeg Jets, Oilers forward Evander Kane publicly called out his head coach, and following the 3-2 loss at the hands of the Jets there were attempts to stir up even more drama in the Oilers locker room.

Oilers forward Leon Draisaitl however was having none of it and when a question was put forward about one of his teammates, one that looked to lay the blame for the loss at the feet of that teammate, Draisaitl not only shut it down but openly displayed his disgust at the question. Draisaitl was asked what he had said to goaltender Stuart Skinner after a huge mistake during an Oilers power play, a mistake that would lead to a game tying shorthanded goal on the part of the Jets. Draisaitl could have easily directed blame towards his teammate following the question, but instead gave the reporter a look of disgust before completely shutting that avenue of questioning down entirely.

"What do you want me to say to him?" asked a visibly annoyed Draisaitl. "He made a mistake, big deal. Nothing to say to him, we all make mistakes."

In spite of the fact that it was an egregious mistake on the part of Skinner, Draisaitl answered the question the way any leader on a team should by refusing to throw his teammate under the bus. No doubt it is a moment that Stuart Skinner will appreciate if he catches wind of it.
