Life-altering news for Patrice Bergeron!

Life-altering news for Patrice Bergeron!

More details here:

This is a busy summer yet again for free agent forward Patrice Bergeron, who has yet to make a decision on whether he will return to the Boston Bruins next season. In the meantime, he had much bigger news to announce as the Bruins congratulated Bergeron and his wife Stephanie on the recent birth of their baby boy, Felix Bergeron.

While this is not the news fans are yearning for, it could be one of the pieces that gets Bergeron closer to a decision. On Friday, general manager Don Sweeney said Friday he was still awaiting word from his captain.

“No update, other than Felix Bergeron was born,” Sweeney told reporters, according to the team’s website. “So, we welcomed a new member to the Bruins family with Patrice and Steph, and congrats to them.”

Bergeron signed a one-year deal worth $2.5 million, plus an additional $2.5 million in performance-based incentives before the start of the 2022-23 season.

Many factors are in play when it comes to Bergeron returning to the Bruins, including his (growing) family and his injured back.

“I’m sure that’s all part of (the) decision-making process for him,” said Sweeney. “But we’ll await what his decisions are.”

For now, I bet that Bergeron will focus on his newborn son. This is an emotional time for the Bruins’ captain which reminds fans of how emotional it got when the Bruins were officially eliminated and Bergeron took the time to hug every single one of his teammates before the team headed to the dressing room.

Congratulations to the Bergeron family. Let’s hope other good news come our way from the Bruins’ captain shortly.
