While the world gears up for another epic USA vs. Canada showdown in the women’s Olympic hockey final, Team USA captain Hilary Knight made sure she touched gold before puck drop.

Knight got down on one knee and proposed to her girlfriend, Olympic speedskater Brittany Bowe, sharing the emotional moment on Instagram with the caption: “Olympics brought us together. This one made us forever.”

The power couple, who have been dating since 2022, are both competing in what is expected to be their final Olympic Games. Knight is skating in her fifth Winter Olympics and chasing a record-tying fifth Olympic hockey medal. Earlier in Milan-Cortina, the 36-year-old tied the U.S. Olympic record for most goals and points in women’s hockey, adding yet another milestone to her legendary career.

Bowe is making her fourth Olympic appearance and is a two-time bronze medalist. Her final Olympic event will be the 1500m on Friday.

The Canadian women enter Thursday’s gold medal game as reigning champions after their dramatic 3-2 win over the U.S. in Beijing in 2022. But before the rivalry resumes, Knight and Bowe reminded everyone that some Olympic moments are even bigger than hockey.

Gold medal game or not, this one was already unforgettable.
