As this has been the case for the past few days around 2PMET, many players land on waivers.

On Wednesday, several more were placed on the waiver wire, with notably five  players from the Carolina Hurricanes. Forwards Ryan Dzingel, Mackenzie MacEachern, Stelio Mattheos and Lane Pederson and defenseman Maxime Lajoie have been placed on waivers for the purpose of assigning them to Chicago. Forward Ryan Suzuki and defenseman Cavan Fitzgerald have been placed on the injured non-roster list, while the Hurricanes have agreed to mutually part ways with defenseman Grigorii Dronov.

Reporter Chris Johnston also reported that Dennis Cholowski (NYI), Cory Schneider (NYI) and Adam Brooks (PHI) were placed on waivers.

Insider Frank Seravalli quickly pointed out that Pederson, Willman and Cholowski were among the notable names for this batch.

Cholowski was hoping to win starting spot with Islanders. He was a first-round pick of the Detroit Red Wings six years ago, but has struggled to come into his own in the NHL. Cholowski has 30 points in 115 career games.

We will have to wait until tomorrow’s deadline to see if any of them get claimed and get a chance at another shot for the 2022-23 season.

All 23 players on waivers yesterday cleared.
