Lightning F Pat Maroon blasts the current state of the NHL!

Three-time Stanley Cup winning forward Pat Maroon was rather candid in his thoughts of the current state of the National Hockey League, and it's not going the right way in his mind. 

Earlier in the week, he and Toronto Maple Leafs forward Wayne Simmonds were each slapped with 10-minute misconducts after they were jawing at one another on their respective team benches. 

“This game is going the wrong way,” Maroon said via The Athletic’s Joe Smith. “I guess you can’t chirp each other on the bench now. I guess that is illegal. I guess it is better to watch 1980s hockey when guys are chirping each other but I don't know why they did that.”

Of course, Maroon himself was famously the victim of some well known trash talk, having been told by Los Angeles Kings defenseman Drew Doughty that he wasn't very effective at his chosen profession during their outdoor game in 2014 while the former was a member of the Anaheim Ducks:
