Logan Cooley out long term after a horrific looking crashing into the net.
The Utah Mammoth have been dealt a huge blow.
On Friday night, Mammoth star forward Logan Cooley appeared to suffer a very serious injury when he was involved in a violent collision with a goal post. Cooley went hard into the net, with his left leg absorbing nearly all of the impact, which caused his left leg to bend at a horrific looking angle. It looks terrible when you watch the replay at ice level, but it was the overhead camera angle that really showed just how badly Cooley's leg was bent and twisted by the impact of that collision.
Here is a look at a replay that shows both angles:
The Mammoth and Cooley looked as though they had initially dodged a bullet with Cooley shaking it off and appearing to be in far better condition than you would have expected of a man who had been involved in that kind of crash. Although Cooley was able to get up under his own power, it now seems as though adrenaline may have played a significant factor in that.
On Saturday, the Mammoth announced that Cooley would miss that night's game against the Calgary Flames, but now the news has gotten significantly worse.
In an official announcement on Monday morning, the Mammoth have confirmed that Cooley is now out indefinitely with no timeline for his return. The Mammoth have also confirmed that Cooley is dealing with a lower body injury, but that will come as no surprise to anyone who has seen the way his leg bent against the post.
A terrible situation, especially considering Cooley looked as though he had initially managed to miraculously avoid injury.
