Deja Vu in the worst possible way for Logan Cooley.
It's tough not to feel for Utah Mammoth forward Logan Cooley whose body has been put through the wringer this season in the worst way imaginable.
On Saturday night, Cooley was playing in just his 10th game with the Utah Mammoth since his return from an injury suffered earlier this season when, in a cruel twist of fate, he would once again be injured in an eerily similar fashion.
Cooley and his Utah Mammoth were taking on the Pittsburgh Penguins and it would be during the second period of that game that lightning would indeed strike twice for Cooley. Cooley attempted to split the Penguins defense to create a scoring chance but instead he was knocked off the puck and off balance, which in turned caused the former 3rd overall pick at the 2022 NHL Entry Draft to veer towards the goal post.
Much like he had earlier in the season, Cooley would slam his leg into the goalpost and much like earlier in the season the 21 year old forward was unable to get back up to his feet. Cooley would eventually be helped off the ice, but it was tough to watch given what had transpired only months earlier.
Here's a look at the replay of his latest injury:
As I mentioned this was eerily similar to the injury Cooley suffered back in December of 2025, the injury that kept him out of the lineup until late February of this year. In that scenario Cooley slammed his leg into the goalpost of the Vancouver Canucks, leading to an injury that knocked him out of the lineup for nearly 3 months.
In the first incident it was Cooley's left leg that was damaged and unfortunately that was once again the case on Saturday night, we can only hope that his injury won't be nearly as severe this time around.
Stay tuned for more.
