Logan Stanley crushes Shane Wright with a monstrous hit on Saturday night.
The Seattle Kraken were not happy about this hit and only time will tell if the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety feels it needs to take another look at this one.
On Saturday night, the Kraken saw former first round pick Shane Wright knocked out of a game against the Buffalo Sabres after being on the receiving end of a huge hit. Wright was caught off guard by a thunderous body check from Sabres defenseman Logan Stanley, with Wright seemingly never seeing Stanley coming or at least not seeing him until it was far too late.
Wright was skating the puck up ice and along the boards when Stanley came flying into frame from seemingly out of nowhere, completely flattening Wright with the hit and blowing right through him with all the momentum he had built up prior to the hit.
Wright immediately fell to the ice and would remain down for several seconds before eventually getting back up under his own power. Although Wright appeared to be doing ok once he got back to his feet, he would leave the game with an undisclosed injury and did not return.
Here is a look at the hit:
Here it is again in slow motion:
Because of the awkward position of Wright's body, his head would absorb the brunt of the impact and I do wonder for this reason if the NHL will take a second look.
Stay tuned.
