London Knights bus involved in accident.
Knights bus involved in accident on way to arena.
The London Knights reportedly had a bit of a dust up on their way to the arena on Saturday night, but thankfully it appears as though everyone involved is going to be ok.
On Saturday night the Knights were scheduled to take on the Erie Otters in the Ontario Hockey League and on their way to Erie Insurance Arena the Knights were reportedly involved in what now appears to be a minor car accident. Mark Scheig of The Hockey Writers has been on top of this story and reported initially that the Knights were late to the arena.
Scheig also reported that he had been told by someone that the Knights bus had been spotted surrounded by emergency vehicles including police cruisers and an ambulance, but it sounds like these may have been only precautionary measures. Scheig did not reveal his source for this particular bit of information.
Obviously when hockey fans in Canada hear of a hockey team involved in a bus accident they are going to be especially sensitive following the tragedy involving the Humboldt Broncos, but I am happy to report that no such tragedy has occurred here.
One fan reported that he had a family member who drove by the scene of the accident and added that the players appeared to be standing around the bus following the accident, all of whom were unharmed.
Since his initial report Scheig has been able to share additional details including the fact that another vehicle was involved in this accident, one that he has described as a "smaller car." When compared to a bus most vehicles are going to be smaller, but I suspect that he means small even by the standards of your typical automobile.
The accident reportedly happened roughly one mile from the arena, which seems like bad luck for the Knights who had almost arrived at their destination. Thankfully it appears neither the occupants of the smaller vehicle nor the occupants of the London Knights bus were harmed, and tonight's game has continued as scheduled.
