The extended family of the Boston Bruins suffered a loss last week, with the passing of former center Peter McNab on Sunday at the age of 70. McNab, who spent parts of eight years playing with the Bruins in the late 1970's and early 1980's, had been working as a color analyst for the Colorado Avalanche since their move to the Rocky Mountains from Quebec in 1995.

“As good as a hockey man as he was, he will be most remembered for being a friend to so many,” Joe Sakic, the Hall of Fame forward turned team executive, said in a statement. “On behalf of the Avalanche organization, we send our deepest condolences to the entire McNab family. Peter will be greatly missed.”

The Bruins released the following statement:

"We are deeply saddened by the passing of Peter McNab. “Maxy” was a beloved member of the “Lunch Pail AC” & one of the most dynamic goal scorers in club history.

We send our condolences to Peter’s family, friends, & the entire Avalanche organization."

The Bruins did their part to honor his memory with a special pre-game tribute prior to last night's tilt at TD Garden against the St. Louis Blues. For those of you who may have missed it, take a look below:
