This just in, the New York Islanders have announced that Lou Lamoriello will NOT have his contract renewed this offseason and that the team will look to hire a new general manager this offseason.
The 82 year old Lamoriello was hired by the Islanders back in 2018 and helped guide the team to back to back playoff runs in 2020 and 2021. Prior to that he was general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs for three years. Of course, Lamoriello's Hall of Fame legacy began and was cemented from 1987 - 2015 when he managed the New Jersey Devils to three Stanley Cup championships.
At 82 years old and with nothing left to accomplish in the sport, you have to wonder if this is the end of the road for Lou?
