This just in, long-time NHL executive and Hockey Hall of Famer Lou Lamoriello has been spotted in Buffalo Niagara International Airport just days after being linked to the Buffalo Sabres.
The Sabres have reportedly been looking to hire a senior executive who would essentially work as an facilitator between owner Terry Pegula and general manager Kevyn Adams. It's no secret that Pegula's fingerprints are all over this team and that he has seemingly overstepped his responsibilities over and over. If there's anyone in the hockey world who could convince Pegula to take his hands off of on-ice personnel, it's Lamoriello.
The thing for me is that I can't see Lamoriello being involved with a team unless he's granted full autonomy. If he's overriding Adams' decisions I'm not sure that's the best fit either.
In any case, it'll be interesting to see how this all plays out in the coming days. Stay tuned.
