The New York Islanders are in a funk right now, and it could force the hand of general manager Lou Lamoriello.
Following their 7th consecutive setback last night at the hands of the Seattle Kraken, the Islanders continue to find themselves sliding in the standings. Could a move be made out of desperation? According to NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman, it appears as though Lamoriello is sniffing around.
"I think they are looking for a scorer, they've been looking for a scorer for awhile," Friedman said. "And I also think they are in on some of these defensemen, maybe from Calgary."
A scoring forward would do wonders for the Islanders, who are hard pressed for goals. Brock Nelson leads the team with seven, followed by Bo Horvat and and Noah Dobson with five apiece, while Matthew Barzal has been limited to just three.
