Luke Schenn makes short work of Jeff Malott after a big hit on Saturday.
It would seem that Winnipeg Jets defenseman Luke Schenn is in mid season form.
On Saturday afternoon the Winnipeg Jets clashed with the Los Angeles Kings and it wouldn't be very long before Schenn would make his presence known on the ice. A big hit from Jets defenseman Logan Stanley on former Kings first round pick Alex Turcotte drew a crowd after Turcotte appeared briefly rocked by the hit, with Kings forward Jeff Malott looking to get involved after the hit.
It looked as though Malott wanted a piece of Stanley but that was the moment that Schenn stepped into the fray to make sure that Malott knew that he was the man that Malott would have to contend with. Much to his credit Malott showed a real willingness to step into the pocket with Schenn, a decision he may have come to regret since.
Although the fight was very brief it was clear who emerged victorious in this one with Schenn dropping Malott with the very first blow he landed. A stiff left hand from Schenn would catch Malott on the jaw and it was enough to send the Kings forward tumbling to the ice, clearly out of the fight at that point.
Malott to his credit took the loss in stride and could even been seen smiling after the fact while exchanging pleasantries with Schenn in the penalty box, a sign of great sportsmanship on his part.
Here's a look at the replay of the fight:
